SPOTLIGHT ON . . .
This will be my last Friday Post. I have enjoyed writing about our school and all the wonderful moments that have happened in the last 14 years. It is a special thing to have spent your working life among children. They are so very real! My best wishes go to all of the LES families. You will always be in my heart.

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL
Monday is the last day of school. Dismissal will be at 11:30. The Afterschool Program will be open for any students currently enrolled in the program.
LEVERETT LIBRARY NEWS
Summer Reading at the Library: Reading is for the Dogs (and Cats!)
Participate in our Summer Reading Program and raise money to help support the Dakin Animal Shelter.
Special Events:
•On Thursday, July 31st at 3:30: Join us for a presentation by Teaching Creatures on Biomimicry- technology inspired by animals.
• Wednesday, August 13 at 6:30 pm: Sciencetellers will be the library! Join us as we learn about the science of fire and ice through the tale of "Dragons & Dreams." Wouldn't dragon's breath be an amazing sight to see? Well, get ready to see it ... feel it ... smell it ... maybe even taste it! This story features interactive science experiments with dry ice, flash paper, exploding bottles, and much more.
• And on Thursday August 21st , join us for our end of summer party food and fun and a check presentation to Dakin!

• Friday, June 20th at 7:30 the Library Film Club presents Captain Phillips, a Best Picture nominee starring Tom Hanks. The true story of Captain Richard Phillips and the 2009 hijacking by Somali pirates of the US-flagged MV Maersk Alabama, the first American cargo ship to be hijacked in two hundred years.
• Thursday, June 26, 3:30-4:15 Lego Club!! Get ready for a new building challenge- please register.
• Also on Thursday, June 26, at 7pm, join us for a visit from local author James Scott who will talk about his acclaimed debut novel, The Kept. Scott's bleak western-style tale of revenge set in 19th Century Upstate New York has been compared to the work of Cormac McCarthy. The library has copies of The Kept available for check out,
• Saturday June 28th at 1:30 The Lego Movie! Fun for all ages-come in out of the heat and enjoy. Everything in "The Lego Movie" is, indeed, awesome. (Roger Ebert.com).

If you have ordered a t-shirt, they did not arrive in time and money will be refunded in the next week, as will money for the Wine Tasting. These will come by a check in the mail.

HORSE RIDING SUMMER CAMP
Heartland Farm – 72 Station Road - Amherst, MA
A fun, safe, and educational hands-on experience for beginners and advanced riders 6 years old and up.
Students have riding lessons as well as chaperoned trail rides, horse care instruction, and stable work each day.
Full day (9am-3pm) - $350 per week
Half day (9am-12:30pm) - $250 per week

August 4-8, August 11-15, August 18-22

We need your help. This year we were hit hard with decreases in state and federal budget cuts in arts and after-school programming. Grants that have sustained us for years are drying up, and immediate prospects are slim. The staff and board are working diligently to secure grants and other financial support and are confident that they will be able to do so, but we need your help now to make sure programming can continue this fall.
