Principal’s Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Meets the certification requirements of an elementary
principal in Massachusetts.
2. Has at least a Master’s Degree from an accredited institution.
3. Has at least three years teaching experience.
4. Has such alternative qualifications as the School Committee may find appropriate.
APPOINTED BY AND REPORTS TO: Superintendent of Schools
The principal shall be the educational administrator and manager of Leverett Elementary School, shall supervise the operations and management of LES and the school property, subject to the supervision and direction of the superintendent. The principal of LES shall be responsible for the hiring of all staff and for terminating all such personnel, subject to review and prior approval by the superintendent. It shall be the responsibility of the principal in consultation with professional staff of the building to promote participatory decision making among all professional staff for the purpose of developing educational policy.
