LEVERETT SCHOOL COMMITTEE

COMMITTEE AS A WHOLE POLICY

“The policy of the Commonwealth from early times has been to establish a board elected directly by the people, separate from other governing boards of the several municipalities and to place the control of the public school within the jurisdiction of that body  unhampered as to details of administration and not subject to review by any other board or tribunal as to acts performed in good faith…..” *

The Committee will act jointly at a legal meeting and no single member will attempt to take any action which can be interpreted to be binding on the Committee as a whole.

*  The description was given by Chief Justice Rugg in the leading case of Leonard versus Springfield – 241 Mass. 135 N.E. 459 (1922)
